Interview with Canonical

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, is transitioning from a monitoring stack of Nagios, Graphite, and in-house tools to Prometheus due to its simplicity, power, and ability to consolidate alerting and trending into one system. While still in progress, the transition is proving successful with easy exporter development and quick adoption across teams, though challenges remain with long-term storage and integration with their Juju tool. Canonical anticipates Prometheus becoming a core component of their monitoring infrastructure, potentially replacing Nagios for alerting purposes.
