Understanding NetFlow duplication: Why it happens, and how to deduplicate

NetFlow duplication occurs when multiple network devices report the same traffic flow, resulting in inflated data that undermines accurate capacity planning and performance metrics. This can be mitigated by configuring NetFlow only on egress interfaces or by assigning specific device roles (such as "border" or "core") to filter out redundant records in dashboards. Successful deduplication requires selecting authoritative reporting devices based on whether the traffic is internet-bound, internal, or cross-site.
