5 Reasons ETL is the Wrong Approach for Mainframe Data Migration

This article argues that traditional ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) is an inefficient approach for modern mainframe data migration. ETL was designed for simpler, database-to-database transfers and struggles with the scale, complexity, and unstructured data common in today’s cloud-focused environments. ELT (Extract, Load, Transform), which loads data before transforming it, is presented as a more effective solution, leveraging modern processing power and reducing costs for mainframe modernization projects.
